Details:
Extends the current selection, weighting each segment proportional to the number of extensions.
The Oct 8 2008 update adds the ability to use a background spline to control the applied weight values.
The spring in the sample image was created by Weight Extending a single subpatched polygon then using the Move and Rotate tools with their Falloffs set to Weight Map.
Here's a video that shows how to make a few different springs.
